Toys for Tots, Southern Kentucky

This Toys for Tots program is overseen by the Franklin R. Sousley - Detachment #1095, Marine Corps League, in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  This program serves Adair, Allen, Barren, Butler, Clinton, Edmonson, Floyd, Harlan, Hart, Johnson, Knott, Lawrence, Letcher, Logan, Martin, Metcalfe, Monroe, Perry, Pike, Russell, Simpson, Taylor, and Warren Counties.  Each county has it's own method of securing and distributing toys for less fortunate children.  Each county is unique.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less forunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.  Volunteers and community support is a must for this program to fulfil it's mission.

Along with our Christmas Assistance initiative, our program is a "Year Around Force For Good".  We give books, games, puzzles, dolls, toy cars, and other items to nearly 30 nursing homes for their residents to enjoy.  Our motto for our Nursing Home Program is "The joy of toys... has no age limit".     

We also have created 12 book nooks in 10 counties.  These nooks are filled with love (stocking stuffers) and literacy (books) throughout the entire year.   Eight of our 12 nooks were funded by our community partner, Tennessee Valley Authority.
